Fifty Years

Kent and Diane in Tucson

Fifty years ago in March, my wife and I exchanged wedding vows. We wrote our own, which we memorized. At the ceremony, I remembered mine, but Diane was nervous. She forgot her vows and winged it. Still, she made some wonderful promises, which she has never forgotten, and across these fifty years, she has been the truest companion any man could ask for.

50 Years

We’re in Tucson, Arizona, (yes, away from our beloved Minnesota for a bit) celebrating our fifty years together with much revelry. It’s lovely here—warm and sunny—which is exactly how I think of our marriage. Across the next week or so, I’ll try to post some updates of our doings. In the meantime, I hope you’ll join me in a virtual toast to these fifty years, which seem to have passed in a heartbeat.

  1. Regarding March 23, 2023, Congratulations. My wife and I will join you in 4 years. George and Penny Beddoe, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

  2. Congratulations! And remember to cherish every second you are together. Fifteen years ago my husband died very suddenly just a few months before our 50th for which we had made grand plans.
I love your books and they bring back fond memories from our graduate school years in Minnesota. Best wishes for many more happy years together,

    Margaret Hamilton, Luray, Virginia
