Hitting the Road Again

William Kent Krueger and bike

Spring has finally come to Minnesota, or at least my part of it. With sunny days in the 70’s, I’ve taken my bikes—my Trek road bike and my Vado e-bike—out of storage and hit the road again.

I took a favorite route yesterday. For those of you who know St. Paul, I followed the Gateway Trail to Lake Phalen, then south along Johnson Parkway to Mounds Park, back through Swede Hollow, and home via some back streets through Frogtown.

Along the way, I passed stretches of dandelions so profuse and colorful I couldn’t help thinking of the great field of poppies in the Wizard of Oz. And the view of St. Paul and the Mississippi River from atop Mounds Park never ceases to thrill me. I have lots of gorgeous miles ahead of me this year. I’ll keep you posted on the highlights.

  1. My sister and I are about to embark on an adventure. Wish us luck 🙂 We love your writing!

  2. LOVE the photos. I live in Lowertown, so know exactly where you went. Glad you’re out enjoying this fabulous weather!

  3. Hello Mr. Kruger,
I just finished listening to the Cork O’Connor 19 book series. I recently had Covid and pretty much listen to one book a day. I fell in love with Henry, his wisdom, his kindness and with the O’Connor family especially little Waaboo.

I found that these stories, and especially Henry’s wisdom, helped patch my body, heart and spirit back together again after Covid.

I will miss them deeply, and I’m sad that the series is finished and I’ll have to let them go for now. I’m so grateful for your beautiful writing. The wisdom in the lessons embedded within are like little nuggets of gold. I loved hanging out with the O’Connors.

    Thank you,
    Claudia
